Window Silicone & Gasket Replacement

Perimeter sealant and glazing gaskets help manage movement and weather exposure around windows. When they crack, shrink, detach or become brittle, water and air can reach interfaces that were intended to remain sealed. We scope replacement by joint type, access, substrate condition and compatible material selection.

When this service helps

Problems the scope is designed to solve

  • Cracked or detached perimeter silicone
  • Shrunken or displaced glazing gaskets
  • Local water marks around window openings

Questions answered

Window Silicone & Gasket Replacement FAQ

Is silicone replacement the same as waterproofing?

It is one form of joint remediation. If water originates from cracks, roof interfaces or concealed defects, additional investigation may be needed.

Can new sealant be applied over old sealant?

A durable joint usually requires removal of failed material and proper substrate preparation. Overlaying contaminated or detached sealant may not bond reliably.

How long must sealant cure?

Cure time depends on product, joint size, temperature and humidity. The product data and site conditions should guide exposure to water or movement.
